Original Photos

This is the photo I will use for my cover page. I think this is an effective one because we don't usually see poses with guitars like this. I'm breaking all kinds of norms involved in the rock industry because we don't usually see female rock stars and also the fact that she's a black artist. Of course the most notable black rock artist is Jimi Hendrix but not many people can name others. So for me this was important to slightly break the boundaries.

I wanted to have my model wearing black so we can see the coordination between her and her guitar. I felt it was a good idea to have her holding it upright to show everyone a bit about her, the fact that she's holding the guitar differently could suggest to a few that she is perhaps different.

I will be using this photo for my contents page as a photo that can also tie in with the article for my double page spread. The fact now that she has drumsticks in her hand suggests that she is a very versatile artist and her love of music shows with a different prop for a different photo.

I have also added a leather jacket to my model which is iconic in the rock genre. Leather clothing is the norm in rock and no rock artist would be complete without a leather jacket.

I have also another photo for the contents page, this is to show the variety of material that will be included in the pages. Again my artist is holding a guitar, but the right way you would expect to see one on. He has also positioned his hands to show that he will be playing it potentially. I have my artist wearing a suit to correlate a potential sophistication and class about him in terms of his music. Having said this, his top button is undone and his tie is loose, this shows that he is still that ragged rock star with a bit of an edge.

Here is an image with a black and white filter on it. This is because the magazine I copied also had a black and white image. I was told to literally copy magazine pages so they look professional and I aimed to do that. This photo also shows the range of material that's featured in my magazine. It offers many musicians as my artist here is a drummer. It appears to be an action shot as you can see his arms are positioned correctly and his face is fully focused on the type of drum he will hit next.

After editing, this photo will be used for my double page spread. Its a picture that will take up half of the double page spread, it will stand out. Its a photo that can sum up my artist as the pose she is making is abrupt and assertive. The way she is resting her foot on her amplifier suggests she doesn't care much about the equipment that she uses, like most rock stars in recent history.
